Gahm Block Building
Omaha, NebraskaPROJECT OVERVIEW Originally built as the three-story Mercer Hotel, in 1896 the six story addition was added as the Gahm Block. Around 1900 the building was sold and within five years was gutted due to a fire. The six-story structure was entirely rebuilt while the three-story structure was annexed. Dicon renovated the Old Market's historic Gahm Block building. The renovated Gahm Block at 1202 Howard in Omaha, NE was transformed into 15 upscale apartments. Ranging from 721 square feet to 1,624 square feet, the units are located on the five floors above Wheatfield's restaurant. The Gahm Block has a place on the National Register of Historic Places which qualifies the project for tax credits to help fund renovations. It is in the interest of the owner to maintain the historic integrity of the building. TESTIMONIAL "Re-developing a historical property is not for the weak of heart. That’s why it is so important to have a construction partner who has proven experience. No matter how well you plan and design, there are always surprises. You need construction professionals who are problem solvers on the fly. We found that in Dicon and their team. The re-birth of the Gahm Block building has been a challenge to balance historical preservation with fiscal responsibility and economic reality. Dicon has helped us meet that challenge." - Glenn Friendt, Gahm Block, LLC FACILITY TYPEUpscale Apartments (Historic Renovation) CLIENT Gahm Block, LLC SIZE 16,746 Square Feet, 15 Units » Back to Category |
