Last week, I had the opportunity to attend one of our city’s most influential events – Big Omaha. A two-day technology and entrepreneur conference dedicated to inspiring innovators. 2013 marked Big Omaha’s five year anniversary with over 600 attendees from all over the country and filled the recently renovated KANEKO for the event.
Big Omaha 2013:
Event creators Jeff Slobotski and Dusty Davidson are also Co-Founders of Silicon Prairie News, a local Omaha start-up. They collaborated together to bring in individual participants as well as talented speakers. For me personally, one of the biggest benefits was the ability to network with others in the region and nationally during this event. It was an amazing collection of people who were attracted to the energy from this incredible experience.
The highlight this year for me was Marc Ecko, founder and Chief Creative Officer of Marc Ecko Enterprises. He shared his ten rules of business, which he created from The Notorious B.I.G.’s song “ten Crack Commandments”. Full article link here.
It was one of the most creative presentations I’ve seen, being entertaining and informative.
Bottom line, this is a great event for our city and should be supported and attended by all our local businesses whether you’re a start-up or long-time Omaha company.
