Here’s our first Employee Spotlight interview: Lance Hooper – estimator
When did you start your Dicon career? October 17th, 2011.
What do you do – in your own words? When I’m not busy boosting company moral and guarding the exotic milk fridge, I dabble in putting estimates together.
Favorite part of working here? My favorite part of working for Dicon is the relaxed atmosphere. We know how to get the job done, but have a blast while doing it. The office crew is always up for joking around, even if they don’t get it.
Are you originally from Omaha? If not, how did you end up here and why did you stay? Yes, both sides of my family history have been in Omaha since the beginning of time it seems. Having everyone in town is great, but has its obvious cons.
Do you have any hobbies? Since Andy was born October 25th my hobbies have taken a backseat. However, when I do get a chance I do enjoy video games. It’s really more of an adult thing these days. I also like to tinker with anything and everything tech related. It’s always good to keep up with where technology is going, but it moves fast. Once the weather breaks I love to get out on the golf course and bike ride.
What’s your favorite local restaurant? This is always a trick question for me, especially on my birthday when I get to pick. I simply like good food, and Omaha is a great place for exactly that. So really it depends on what I’m in the mood for. I do like BBQ if that counts as an answer.
Who’s your team (ie: baseball/football)? UNO Maverick Hockey! It’s hard to have a “team” being from Omaha. If we are talking pro sports I’m all over the map. Detroit Lions, Cleveland Indians, Chicago Blackhawks, basketball doesn’t count.
How do you like to spend your free time? Refer to tell us about your family.
Tell us about your family? Sara and I have been together for about 9 years. We got married June 18th 2011. It’s pretty recent so I haven’t forgotten. As previously mentioned our son, Anderson Ryan, was born October 25th, 2012. It is certainly a life change, but we are having a blast.
If you could have ONE superpower – what would it be and why? Right now, that would have to be the ability to duplicate myself like Multiple Man of the XMEN. Then I could be in as many places at once as I wanted, and be that much more productive
