Dicon provided Design Assistance and General Contracting services for the renovation of the Freiden Building in Downtown Omaha’s Historic Flatiron District. Originally constructed in 1923, renovations returned the building to its original mixed-use with two commercial bays on the first floor and micro-studio and one-bedroom apartments on the second and third floors. The original demising walls were maintained throughout the apartments while kitchens and restrooms were reconfigured to maximize open space in each unit. All original masonry was restored and the original windows were replaced. The building’s roof, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were also replaced. Units include custom built-in storage and murphy bed systems.
